In Waterloo, most of our projects begin with an inspection order or a maintenance contract that no longer controls downtime. We survey the equipment, read the reports and build a modernization scope that fixes the cause.

Typical scope in Waterloo: new controller and drive, door operators and restrictors, hall and car fixtures, and — where needed — machine replacement. Shaft, rails and car frame are usually retained.

Cold winters, road salt and grit wear door sills and tracks, and hydraulic cars slow down in unheated spaces.

FAQ

Waterloo elevator questions

How long is each elevator out of service during modernization?

Usually several weeks per car, depending on scope. We phase multi-car buildings so at least one elevator keeps running.

Will modernization reduce energy use?

Modern drives and LED lighting usually reduce elevator energy use compared with older motor-generator or relay systems.

What happens after an inspection order in Ontario?

The order lists deficiencies and a deadline. We quote and schedule the corrections so the device stays licensed with TSSA.

What does a condition survey include?

Equipment age and type, controller generation, parts availability, inspection history, callback log review and a recommended scope.

Can you modernize just the controller?

Sometimes. A partial modernization (controller and drive, or doors) can be the right first step if the machine and other components are in good condition.
